Heel Pain
Symptoms
Pain underneath the heel. Typically in the morning when getting up from bed rest.
Causes
Overload of the plantar fascia, a structure that contributes to the stabilization of the longitudinal arch. This overload is often caused by shortening of the calf muscles and hamstrings.
Bony spurs which occasionally are detected on radiographs usually are of no significance.
Several other conditions, e.g. nerve compression may lead to similar complaints.
Therapy
